OLANA, the historic home and estate of artist Frederic Church, partnered with The Pekoe Group to develop marketing materials celebrating the 200th anniversary of Church's birth.
Goal / Brief
The original 200th anniversary campaign was led by designer Reggie Gordon. As the project evolved, I took the lead on developing a new campaign for the following year to promote Olana's visibility showing the beauty of the landscape, building, and artwork inside. Working from the copy line, "Unforgettable Beauty, Surprisingly Close," I created a series of advertisements for Metro-North one-sheets and adapted the campaign across digital media placements. I utilized the iconic Olana archways as inspiration to ground the focus.
Challenges
The campaign was initially designed with a vertical format in mind for transit advertising. One challenge was translating those concepts into a variety of additional sizes and formats while maintaining the strength and clarity of the original design.
What I'm Proud Of
I'm particularly proud of the alternate concepts I developed during the design process. While they were not selected for the final campaign, I enjoyed exploring a more minimal and atmospheric approach that highlighted the beauty of the landscape and reinforced the campaign's message.
